The Amber 150W/m² Electric Underfloor Heating Mat is engineered specifically for concrete and solid subfloor constructions, delivering powerful, even radiant warmth underfoot. At 150W per square metre, it provides a higher heat output than standard 100W mats — making it the correct choice for concrete floors, which require more energy to reach a comfortable temperature than timber subfloors. EU-certified manufacturing and a market-leading warranty give complete confidence from installation through to daily use. Available in 15 sizes from 0.5m² to 12.0m², all 500mm wide.

Sizing Guide
Measure the usable floor area — the area where people walk, excluding fixed furniture such as vanity units, bath panels, toilet bases, and kitchen units. The mat is 500mm (0.5m) wide, so a 2.0m² mat measures 0.5m × 4m, a 3.0m² mat measures 0.5m × 6m, and so on. The mesh can be cut (never the cable) to turn corners and fit around obstacles. For irregular room shapes, the Amber 10W/m Loose-Lay Cable may be a better option. Why 150W/m² for concrete floors?
Concrete has a high thermal mass — it absorbs and stores heat, which means it takes longer to warm up and requires more energy to reach a comfortable temperature than a timber subfloor. A 150W/m² output compensates for this by delivering more heat per square metre, ensuring the floor reaches temperature efficiently. For timber subfloors, the Amber 100W Heat Mat is the correct choice — timber floors have a lower thermal mass and a lower maximum temperature tolerance, so a lower output is recommended.
What size mat do I need?
Measure the usable floor area — the area where people walk, excluding fixed furniture. For a standard bathroom, this is typically 2–4m² depending on the room size and layout. The mat is 500mm wide, so select the size whose total area matches your usable floor area. The mesh can be cut (never the cable) to turn corners and navigate around obstacles. Can the mat be cut to fit?
The mesh can be cut to allow the mat to turn corners, change direction, or navigate around obstacles such as toilet bases and vanity units. The cable must never be cut — cutting the cable will damage the heating element and void the warranty. The mat is designed to be folded back on itself at the mesh cuts to cover the required area.
What floor coverings can be used over this mat?
The 150W/m² output is designed for use under ceramic and porcelain tiles and natural stone. These materials have high thermal conductivity and can withstand the heat output of a 150W mat. Carpet, vinyl, laminate, and timber floor coverings have lower maximum temperature tolerances and are better suited to the 100W mat or the 10W/m cable at wider spacing. Always check the floor covering manufacturer’s guidance on maximum floor temperature.
Do I need a thermostat?
Yes — a thermostat is required to control the heating mat and prevent overheating. We offer the Amber DT1 Digital Thermostat (£63) for straightforward programmable control, and the Amber DT-two+ Smart Thermostat (£114–£115) for Wi-Fi control via app, Alexa, and Google Home. Both include a floor sensor probe and carry a 2-year warranty.
