Key Things to Check Before Buying
- Slotted vs unslotted — basin wastes must match your basin. If your basin has an overflow hole, you need a slotted waste. If it has no overflow (common with vessel basins), you need an unslotted waste.
- Finish — match your waste finish to your taps and accessories for a coordinated look; chrome, matt black, brushed brass, brushed bronze, and gunmetal available
- Outlet size — basin wastes are typically 32mm; bath wastes 40mm; shower wastes 90mm. Confirm your pipework size before ordering.
- Access — TOP-FIX wastes install from above without needing access underneath the bath or basin — ideal for fitted furniture or difficult access situations

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between a slotted and unslotted basin waste?
A slotted waste has a small slot or hole in the plug to allow water to drain through the overflow channel in the basin. An unslotted waste has no slot and creates a complete seal — required for basins with no overflow (such as vessel basins). Using the wrong type will either cause flooding (unslotted in an overflow basin) or prevent the waste from sealing properly (slotted in a no-overflow basin).
What is a TOP-FIX waste?
TOP-FIX wastes are designed to be installed from above — without needing to access the underside of the bath or basin. This makes them ideal for fitted bathroom furniture, baths with no access panel, or any situation where getting underneath is difficult. They're available for basins, baths, and kitchen sinks.
What waste do I need for a roll top or freestanding bath?
Roll top and freestanding baths typically use an exposed plug and chain waste with a visible trap, or a standpipe for floor-mounted waste connections. We stock complete roll top bath waste packs including the waste, overflow, and trap. Check whether your bath has a central or offset waste position before ordering.
Can I order if the item shows as out of stock?
Yes — most of our wastes and drainage products can be ordered even when showing as out of stock, and we'll fulfil your order as soon as stock is available. If you need a specific delivery timeframe, please contact us at customerservice@bubblegumbathrooms.co.uk before ordering.
