Description
Amber 10W/m Electric Underfloor Heating Cable — 10m to 165m — 20-Year SecureFloor Warranty
The Amber 10W/m Electric Underfloor Heating Cable is the flexible solution for underfloor heating installations where a fixed-size mat won’t work — irregular room shapes, areas with obstacles, or spaces requiring a custom cable layout. At 10W per metre, the cable output and coverage area are determined by the spacing you choose between runs, giving you complete control over heat output and floor coverage. Compatible with tile, stone, carpet, vinyl, and timber floor coverings. Use with the Amber Decoupling Membrane for crack isolation, waterproofing, and secure cable positioning. Backed by the 20-year SecureFloor Warranty.
⚠️ Electrical connections must be made by a qualified electrician. All wiring to the mains supply must be carried out by a Part P registered electrician in accordance with BS 7671. Not sure which cable length you need? Email your room dimensions and floor type to

Coverage Guide — Approximate Floor Area by Cable Length & Spacing
The area covered depends on the spacing between cable runs. Closer spacing = higher W/m² output (primary heating); wider spacing = lower W/m² (secondary/comfort heating). As a guide at 100mm spacing (100W/m² — primary heating):
-
10m — approx. 1m²
-
20m — approx. 2m²
-
28m — approx. 2.8m²
-
41m — approx. 4m²
-
50m — approx. 5m²
-
57m — approx. 5.7m²
-
70m — approx. 7m²
-
81m — approx. 8m²
-
90m — approx. 9m²
-
100m — approx. 10m²
-
129m — approx. 12.9m²
-
140m — approx. 14m²
-
165m — approx. 16.5m²
For secondary/comfort heating under carpet or timber, wider spacing (150mm+) is typically used. Email your room dimensions to customerservice@bubblegumbathrooms.co.uk or call 01603 381095 for a free sizing recommendation.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I choose the right cable length?
First measure your usable floor area — the area where people walk, excluding fixed furniture such as kitchen units, bath panels, and toilet bases. Then decide on your target heat output: for primary heating (the main heat source for the room), aim for 100–150W/m², which means 100mm–150mm cable spacing at 10W/m. For secondary/comfort heating, 60–80W/m² is typical. Multiply your usable area by the target W/m² to get the total wattage needed, then select the cable length that matches. If in doubt, email your room dimensions to customerservice@bubblegumbathrooms.co.uk or call 01603 381095 for a free recommendation.
What is the difference between this cable and a heating mat?
A heating mat has the cable pre-fixed to a mesh at a set spacing — it is simply rolled out, making it quick to install in regular rectangular rooms. This loose-lay cable is routed freely across the floor, allowing you to adjust the spacing and layout to suit any shape, work around obstacles, or concentrate heat in specific areas. The cable takes more time to install but offers complete flexibility. It is the correct choice for L-shaped rooms, rooms with alcoves, or any area where a fixed-size mat would not fit neatly.
Why use the Amber Decoupling Membrane with this cable?
The Amber Decoupling Membrane provides three functions in one product: it holds the cable securely in position during installation (no additional fixings needed), provides crack isolation to prevent tile fractures caused by subfloor movement, and adds a layer of waterproofing. It is the purpose-designed substrate for this cable and is strongly recommended for tile and stone floor installations.
Can this cable be used under carpet or timber?
Yes — the Amber 10W/m cable is compatible with carpet, vinyl, and timber floor coverings as well as tile and stone. For carpet and timber, wider cable spacing is typically used to achieve a lower W/m² output suitable for secondary/comfort heating. Always check the floor covering manufacturer’s guidance on maximum floor temperature for underfloor heating compatibility.
What warranty does this cable carry?
The Amber 10W/m heating cable is backed by the 20-year SecureFloor Warranty, covering manufacturing defects in the cable when installed in accordance with the installation instructions by a qualified electrician. This is one of the longest warranties available on electric underfloor heating cables in the UK.
