The Timisse Rounded Front-Lit LED Mirror combines a premium aluminium frame with integrated LED lighting and practical bathroom features. What does ‘front-lit’ mean?
A front-lit mirror has the LED strips positioned on the front face of the mirror — in this case along the inner edge of the aluminium frame — shining light directly onto your face. This provides even, shadow-free illumination ideal for grooming, make-up, and shaving. It differs from a backlit mirror, where LEDs sit behind the mirror glass and create a decorative halo glow around the perimeter. Front-lit mirrors are generally preferred for task lighting; backlit mirrors for ambience.
What is the difference between 3000K and 6000K?
6000K (cool daylight) closely mimics natural daylight and renders colours accurately — ideal for make-up application, shaving, and detailed grooming where true colour representation matters. 3000K (warm white) produces a softer, more relaxing light similar to traditional incandescent bulbs — better suited to evening use or creating a spa-like ambience. The touch sensor on this mirror allows you to cycle between these settings to suit the time of day or task.
How does the demister pad work?
The integrated 150 × 300mm demister pad is a low-wattage heating element bonded to the back of the mirror glass. When activated, it gently warms the mirror surface to above the dew point, preventing condensation from forming during and after showering. The demister is typically wired to the bathroom light switch or a dedicated switch so it activates automatically when the light is on. Installation must be carried out by a qualified electrician.
Which finish should I choose?
All three finishes are the same mirror in every respect except colour — the Brushed Bronze is priced slightly higher at £219 vs £189 for Black and Brushed Brass. Matt Black suits contemporary monochrome and industrial-style bathrooms. Brushed Brass coordinates with warm-toned fittings and is popular in transitional and boutique-style bathrooms. Is this mirror suitable for my bathroom zone?
The Timisse mirror is IP44 rated, making it suitable for bathroom zones 2 and 3. Zone 2 extends to 0.6m horizontally from the edge of a bath or shower; zone 3 is the general bathroom area beyond that. It is not suitable for zone 0 (inside the bath or shower) or zone 1 (directly above). In practice, above-basin positioning in a standard bathroom is zone 3 and is suitable for this mirror. If in doubt, consult a qualified electrician.
Can this mirror be hung in landscape orientation?
No — the Timisse mirror is designed for portrait orientation only (500mm wide × 700mm tall). The fixing points and demister pad position are set for portrait use and the mirror should not be rotated.
Does this mirror require an electrician to install?
Yes — the LED lighting and demister pad both require mains electrical connection. All electrical work in a bathroom must be carried out by a qualified, Part P registered electrician in accordance with BS 7671 and Part P of the Building Regulations. The physical wall fixing can be carried out by a competent person, but the electrical connections require a qualified electrician.
