The McAlpine ST90CB10-70 is a shallow shower trap engineered for low-profile shower installations with restricted sub-floor clearance. At 70mm overall height with a superior 50mm water seal and 34 litre/min flow rate, it delivers full performance in space-constrained applications. Designed for shower trays with a thickness of 0–23mm — making it the correct choice for thinner tray profiles. The polypropylene body is supplied with a removable 110mm flange and all fittings for a complete installation. Fully compliant with BS EN 274-1:2002.

What is a Multifit connection?
McAlpine’s Multifit connection is a versatile outlet system compatible with all plastic waste pipes to BS EN 1451-1 and BS EN 1329-1, as well as copper pipe (metric or imperial) and lead pipe. A moulded internal sleeve centres and supports the pipe, whilst Multifit and friction washers ensure a secure seal. The joint is completed hand-tight — no tools required. This makes the ST90CB10-70 compatible with a wider range of existing pipework than a standard solvent weld outlet.
What is the water seal depth, and why does it matter?
The water seal depth is 50mm. The water seal is the depth of water retained in the trap that prevents sewer gases from entering the bathroom. The minimum required by UK building regulations is 25mm. A 50mm seal provides significantly better odour protection and is less likely to evaporate in infrequently used showers.
